OCEAN PROTECTION
WINGS OF THE OCEAN
Created in 2018, Wings of the Ocean is the first litter collection association in France. The French association works to protect the ocean, through waste collection and awareness-raising activities among the general public, children, businesses and local elected officials. These actions are intended to protect marine biodiversity and the natural ecosystem of the coastlines.
Since its creation, the association has carried out more than 700 cleanups and collected more than 99,000 kilos of waste. Wings of the Ocean encourages and supports the initiatives of companies and individuals who are working to find alternatives to plastic consumption.
To fight against this ocean pollution, the association works on the coasts with 3 depollution operations per week. On a fixed mission, Wings of the Ocean operates around the Etang de Berre, the Etang de Thau and the Bassin d'Arcachon. On a traveling mission, a bicycle mission as well as 2 ships make up the association's fleet: the Kraken, emblem of the association and the Scylla since 2022.
SIMPLE GESTURES AND ACTIONS FOR VISITORS
Do you feel concerned about the preservation of the ocean and want to take action? You can make a difference and be more than a drop in the ocean. By taking action, in addition to taking concrete action on the ground (and that feels good), you also become a source of inspiration for those around you by setting an example.
Shall we take action together?
NB: At Wings of the Ocean, we believe that change is everyone's responsibility, from citizen actions, businesses, to legislative decisions: it is obvious that the citizen should not bear all the responsibility for change.
1. CARRY OUT A CLEARANCE ACTION WITH WINGS OF THE OCEAN
Our 6 missions and our numerous branches in France offer you waste collection activities near you. You will be supervised by the association's volunteers to collect waste from a defined area for approximately 1 hour.
Then the waste will be sorted into 33 categories and weighed, in order to identify the predominant waste in the region and offer personalized solutions to communities. The waste will be transformed (subject to local partners for the material concerned), the rest thrown into the corresponding bins (all-purpose or recyclable).

2. YOU DON'T HAVE TIME BUT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT US IN OUR ACTIONS? DONATE !
Our 6 missions welcome a group of around ten full-time volunteers for 6 months. Our volunteers are housed, fed and bathed at the association's expense, which also covers the maintenance costs of our two sailboats (Scylla and Kraken).
Thanks to the commitment of its community and volunteers, each mission carries out 3 waste collection operations per week allowing the association to have a strong impact on the territories. Since 2021, Wings of the Ocean has been the first waste collection association in France.
Our 2024 ambition? Deploy missions around rivers, to capture waste heading towards the ocean upstream and act at the source of the pollution route.
So to sustain our actions and continue to deploy, we need financial support. As a reminder, donations are 66% deductible from your taxes.
3. COMMIT YOUR BUSINESS TO PROTECTING THE OCEAN WITH WINGS OF THE OCEAN
Your company has the power to commit to supporting the association in its fight against litter and particularly plastic pollution.
Talk to your CSR, communications department or your management to organize a field action, or become a patron of one of our missions. Corporate donations are 60% tax deductible.
