Weather conditions for departure from Le Havre this Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m.
After having delivered from Rouen to Le Havre this Friday, August 23, the skippers will set sail from the Bay of Seine this Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m. The start of the first leg between Rouen and Gijon (Spain) will take place under particularly light wind conditions. To date, there are still significant divergences in the weather models concerning the exact positioning of the high pressure ridge which would move more or less north depending on the scenarios. The most likely scenario (70% reliability) today predicts a light west-northwest wind, around 2 to 5 knots only. The start could therefore be quite slow with this ridge spreading more and more towards the North Sea. The sailors should sail during the first hours of the leg, under calm seas, due to the passage of the cold front the day before. Waves of 0.5 to 1 meter are still possible in the middle of the afternoon. The solo sailors will then enter a coastal course to Cap de la Hague. They will certainly have to move away from the coast a little to benefit from a little more flow around 10-15 knots.
