Germany’s Sanni Beucke (This Race is Female) has this morning notified Race Direction of her retirement from the first leg of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec after breaking her port D2 shroud. Racing between Le Havre and Gijon in NW Spain she was in 24th position. Beucke is bitterly disappointed but physically fine. As the wind and sea conditions currently are not suited to her continuing the stage safely, she is diverting to a port in Brittany on starboard tack where she will make a repair.
