Pep Costa (VSF Sports) informed Race Management of his retirement at 7:10 am following the breakage of his bowsprit. The skipper, who was sailing in 8th position off the tip of Brittany, is fine.
VSF Sports' bowsprit was cracked since yesterday morning following a collision off Saint-Nazaire, which had not caused any apparent structural damage to the rest of the hull. The skipper had informed Race Management and had decided to continue his race before being forced to retire this morning. Pep Costa is heading for Lorient.
