Ireland’s Tom Dolan, first at the Fastnet

Published on 14/09/2021

This Tuesday morning September 14, at 0240hrs CET/0140hrs local, Tom Dolan rounded the famous lighthouse on his Smurfit Kappa-Kingspan passing close to his native soils pursued four minutes later by Xavier Macaire (Groupe SNEF) and 31 minutes later by Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif 2019 ). In a pitch black night with pouring rain and heavy seas the solo racers turned left and started the return descent of the Celtic Sea, heading towards the channel of Saint-Nazaire, with some 400 miles still to be covered.
