Published on 16/09/2021

At around 1100hrs local time this morning the French Navy’s 59m 850t survey ship spoke with Pierre Leboucher's Figaro Bénéteau 3 and the race’s guard boat L’ Express so that they could alter course as the Navy ship was surveying, towing sounding equipment. Le Lapérouse requested 900 m of clearance. It was scanning a square defined by GPS points. Francis Le Goff, the race director of the Solitaire du Figaro, immediately warned all the competitors, knowing that the solo sailors concerned are those located in the north of the fleet, the closest to Belle-Ile. Pierre Le Boucher needed to altr course slightly to windward. Reports are that Tom Dolan and Xavier Macaire were OK.
