Between the sea and the countryside, two hours from Paris and the political capital of Normandy, Caen is one of the most attractive cities in France. The density of its higher education (35,000 students) and research centre, its economic dynamism (Normandy’s most job-creating region), its thousand-year-old heritage and the quality of its cultural and sports facilities make it a city with all the advantages of a large metropolis, while retaining its human-scale dimension.
It is therefore in the heart of this attractive city centre that Caen will host the Grand Départ of the Solitaire du Figaro 2023. The first stage will set off from the Normandy coast on 27 August. In the days leading up to the start, the yachts will be visible in the Bassin Saint Pierre, in the immediate vicinity of the free village open to all.

In Finistère, the Bay of Morlaix offers a remarkable quality of life. The diversity and beauty of its landscapes, its magnificent coastline (fine sandy beaches, rocky coves, etc.), its exceptional architectural and gastronomic heritage, and its high hotel and spa capacity make it a choice tourist destination. Economically, the area is developing on the basis of a strong industrial, agricultural, commercial and tourist fabric and is turning towards the sea and its resources (biotechnologies). The Roscoff Biological Station, an internationally recognised research centre in marine biology and ecology, which is part of the CNRS and Sorbonne University, is also of note.
The Solitaire du Figaro 2023 will stop over at the Roscoff Bloscon marina. The public will be able to observe the race boats and take advantage of the many free activities offered by the CCI in the village.
> Rendez-vous from 06 to 10 September 2023
Piriac-sur-Mer, an essential stopover!
Located at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan and the Vilaine river estuary, Ile Dumet, the only island in the Loire-Atlantique region, is its jewel.
Its infrastructures are worthy of the place, with a port with a capacity of 830 boats, ranked 4th in France and 2nd in the department. A nautical base, sponsored by Damien Seguin, an outstanding sailor and managed by “Nautisme en Pays Blanc”, ranked 1st as a regional sailing school and 3rd in the national rankings, which has developed handivoile, the training of future instructors and the discovery of the sea trades for people in rehabilitation.
Situated at the gateway to the salt marshes of Guérande and the Brière regional park, it is proud of its history, its uniqueness and defends its environment. Labelled as a “Petite Cité de Caractère” and “Famille Plus”, it is a festive and family town, just like the people of Piriac who know how to cultivate their art of living.
